SURPRISE, Arizona - The Texas Rangers renamed a practice field at their spring training facility ``Nolan Ryan Field'' on Tuesday to honor the Hall of Fame pitcher who ended his 27-year career with the team.
Ryan, who played the final five seasons of his career with the Rangers, attended the short ceremony.
It's the second time in as many weeks that the Rangers have honored the 56-year-old former pitcher. Two weeks ago, he was among 13 finalists for the inaugural class of the Rangers' Hall of Fame.
Ryan was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1999 and is the career leader with 5,714 strikeouts. He played with the Rangers from 1989 to 1993.
